Xylem, a global water technology company, has been awarded the contract to develop the wastewater treatment and recycling system for Mumbai’s metro rail project. The water treatment and recycling system, which will cater for the entire wastewater treatment needs of the Metro project and Andheri region, incorporates a 1.2 million litres capacity sewage treatment plant with wastewater recycling capabilities. “This treatment facility marks the first step in the development of the city’s new metro as the trial of Mumbai’s first metro train will follow once the plant is in operation,” said Rahul Sonawane, General Manager of Xylem India Treatment CoE.
