SolidWorks encourages Engineers to hone designing skills [October 17, 2011]

Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp. (DS SolidWorks) a comprehensive 3D design solutions provider, announced the commencement of an innovative skills competition- “SolidWorks Skills Design Competition” aimed at the engineering community. It provides an information sharing platform to budding engineers from across the world to exchange creative ideas and tips for efficient and accurate designing.
This engaging competition would put to test the ability of young engineers to devise new designing methods which are innovative, accurate, effective and efficient. All engineering students above eighteen years of age pursuing full time degree courses from India, Australia, South Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia are eligible participants for the contest.
Announcing the launch of the ‘SolidWorks Skills Design Competition’ Sharon Toh, General Manager, South Asia Pac/Korea Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp. said- “Designing forms a significant and inherent part of any engineering marvel. Globally, the CAD industry is witnessing an exponential growth which has led to a surge in the demand for engineering designers who are innovative, efficient and can create highly accurate designs. With this contest, we aim to tap the potential of the young engineering community and nurture their talent and prepare them for the evolving designing needs of the industry.”
The registration for the competition opened on October 1st and would continue till November 5th . The participants would go through two rigorous selection rounds (Country and Regional) and would be assessed by an esteemed panel of jury comprising leading industry veterans and SolidWorks team.
The Country level round announced on October 5th would evaluate the participant’s ability to build an assembly using SolidWorks® 3D design software. The date and venue for participation would be informed to the registered students by email. Twelve shortlisted candidates from each of the six countries would then participate on a global level in the Regional competition to be held on 28th November in Singapore.
