Sandvik Hyperion unveils high-performance metal cutting solutions

Sandvik Hyperion manufactures rotary tool blanks and inserts for a wide range of metal cutting applications such as drilling, milling, turning, threading, gear manufacturing and sawing.
For the first time, Sandvik Hyperion brought its expertise in hard and super hard applied materials to the Indian market. The company has launched high-performance grades at the IMTEX 2015.
Sandvik Grade AM5OAMSO is the perfect blend of Wolfram Carbide grains and binder developed for hard part machining applications. This new grade delivers a combination of high toughness and hardness to produce extraordinary edge sharpness that will not break down or chip in extreme heat conditions. AMSO has very good coating adhesion properties and has also shown remarkable tool performance in finish machining of stainless steels used in the electronics industry.

Sandvik Grade AM70The new AM7O grade is comprised of a combination of sub-micron Wolfram Carbide grains and binder that provides the perfect mix of toughness and wear resistance. It is recommended in applications where edge integrity is required to prevent corner chipping. AM7O was developed to increase drilling productivity in alloy steels, as it provides faster penetration rates while maintaining edge security. It has also shown excellent performance in roughing and finish milling applications involving ISO M and Titanium materials.
“The grade has been tested in several aerospace and medical applications to machine titanium materials and has shown tool life increases of 20 to 30 per cent, depending on machine integrity and tool quality,” Sandvik Hyperion claims.
