Mercedes-Benz starts local assembly of S-Class in India

Mercedes-Benz India today announced the local production of the new S-Class from its facility in Chakan, Pune.
The locally produced top-end model S 500 will be priced at Rs. 1.36 crore ex-showroom, Mumbai.
“The new S-Class is the most powerful luxury car to be produced in India and currently has a waiting period of approximately 3 months,” Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.
Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “No other car stands for Mercedes-Benz brand promise more than the S-Class and we are delighted to manufacture the new S-Class at our state-of-the art production facility in Chakan, Pune. Quality has all along been the strength of Mercedes-Benz India, and the new S 500 production in India is set to take this success story even further. This also reiterates our commitment to bring world-class manufacturing facilities in India to support our growth in the luxury automotive business.”
He also adds, “It is also our constant endeavour to incorporate our brand promise and drive excellence in every aspect of our business and customer engagement. The unique multilingual chauffeur training program is one such initiative specially designed for our discerning S-Class customers in India, which will enable our customers to truly enjoy the epitome of luxury on wheels.”
