Hanna Instruments introduces edge pH meter

August 21, 2015 4:11 pm

Hanna Instruments has announced the release of edge, the world’s first pH meter that uses pH electrodes with Bluetooth Smart technology. The HI2202 edge pH meter uses Hanna’s HALO pH electrodes with Bluetooth Smart technology (Bluetooth 4.0) that connects wirelessly to edge or a compatible iPad running the Hanna Lab App.
The edge is thin and lightweight, measuring just 0.5” in thickness and weighing less than 9 ounces. edge has a 5.5” LCD with an incredibly wide viewing angle and a sensitive capacitive touch keypad. The versatile design of edge makes it equally at home in your hand, on a lab bench, or mounted on a wall.  Edge is simple to configure, calibrate, measure, log, and transfer data to a computer or a USB drive. The edge includes Hanna’s exclusive CAL Check feature to warn if the HALO pH electrode being used is not clean or if the calibration buffers are contaminated. A probe condition indicator is displayed after calibration showing the overall state of the pH electrode.
Each edge is supplied with the HI11102 HALO Bluetooth pH electrode. The HALO uses Bluetooth Smart Technology (Bluetooth 4.0), which is energy efficient and allows the probe to operate on a single CR2032 battery for approximately 500 hours. The HI11102 HALO pH electrode is a double junction, gel filled, glass body pH electrode with a built-in thermostat temperature sensor, allowing readings to be automatically compensated for temperature variations. The HI11102 HALO pH electrode transmits measurement data up to 10 meters. Each HALO pH electrode is automatically detected the edge or an iPad running the Hanna Lab App, transferring pH sensor type, serial number, and calibration data.
The Hanna Lab App is a free application that turns the iPad into a full-featured pH meter when used with a Hanna HALO pH electrode. Its functions include calibration, measurement, continuous data logging, graphing, and data sharing. Measurement and logging of pH and temperature at one-second intervals start as soon as the probe is connected. Measurements can be displayed with tabulated data or as a graph. The graph can be panned and zoomed with the iPad’s pinch-to-zoom technology for enhanced viewing.
Hanna’s new edge supplied with the HALO Bluetooth pH electrode is available through any of their 44 international sales offices as of June 30th.  Their offices provide Hanna customers with local service, support, and training, and are part of Hanna’s goal to provide an exceptional customer experience.
