Groupe Cahors opens manufacturing plant near Pune [ 28 Mar 2012]

French conglomerates Groupe Cahors inaugurated its new manufacturing facility for their Indian group companies – Transfix India and Tek Components, at Ranjangaon MIDC, near Pune. The 1 lacs sq. ft. facility has been set up with an investment of Rs 35 crore, which brings the total investment by the group in India to Rs 60 crore. This facility will house the production facilities and all necessary supporting activities including R&D, sales, marketing and quality management.
TRANSFIX manufactures a wide range of oil-immersed transformers with power ratings between 50 and 2500 kVA up to 33kV. These transformers are 30 per cent more compact in size than conventional products and are maintenance free. World over TEK COMPONENTS is a renown specialist in telecommunications technology, designing and manufacturing a full range of connectors and associated equipment.
Michel Hibon, Chairman and CEO of Groupe Cahors said, “This strategic investment will enhance Groupe Cahors portfolio globally and aggressively build up and consolidate the Group’s growth plans in India. We have been able to successfully combine technical expertise with the global supply chain capabilities of the Groupe Cahors to offer premium products to our customers. Our new facility is a testament to Groupe Cahors commitment in expanding its presence in India”.
Pierre Willams, Director Transfix said, “High growth and development of the power sector in India is stimulating the demand for transformers. The country has witnessed an annual growth of 15% for this type of transformers. Our new facility has been constructed with close co-operation of our French team to meet these goals”.
Gregory Flynn, Managing Director Tek Components said, “Telecommunications industry represents the fastest growing end-use market for connectors and associated equipment. Growth in demand from the telecom industry to improve existing networks performance concerns copper and fibre optic network. TEK Components is a key supplier to BSNL, exports to more than 25 countries and supplies many of the leading telecom operators. Groupe Cahors is in the process of consolidating its worldwide telecom activities and TEK Components will play a key part in this strategy.”
