IT services company Fujitsu introduced a SAP qualified rapid deployment solution for the city gas distribution (CGD) segment in India. According to a statement released by the company, Fujitsu’s CGD ERP solution incorporates end-to-end business processes to offer a flexible, scalable and cost effective solution.
“Today most CGD companies are inclined towards leveraging ERP for enhancing agility and operational efficiency in business, but are reaping limited value, despite significant spending. Fujitsu’s CGD ERP solution’s modular approach brings flexibility to its customers. It helps them to implement ERP in a phased manner, to spread total investment over a period, while its pre-configuration features offer lower total cost of ownership”, the statement said.
Rajeev Gupta, President, Fujitsu Consulting India comments, “Modular approach of Fujitsu’s CGD solution will enable CGD companies to scale quickly to address the growing business needs”. During FY 2005–2010, CGD consumption in India has grown over 30 per cent to reach a current level of ~ 8.5 MMSCMD. According to Mr. Gupta, “The piped natural gas distribution is poised to play an important role to offer cleaner source of efficient fuel for residential, industrial and commercial consumers in the country”.
Vivek S. Rawat, Head of Ecosystem and Channels, SAP India said, “The Fujitsu CGD solution will enable customers maximise their IT, while effectively meeting the growing market demand”.

A recent study highlighted that the CGD sector in India is expected to see significant investments in next 3-5 years, covering transmission infrastructure development, around 5000 km of new pipeline network, new CGD entities covering over 200 cities of India.
