March 22, 2012 5:21 am

Johnson Controls has formed a development relationship with luxury mattress manufacturer Harrison Spinks to integrate pocketed coil spring mattress technology into an automotive seat concept called ComfortThin. The thin profile seats to replace conventional urethane foam pads with a 100 per cent recyclable alternative, and provide a 5 to 20 per cent weight reduction. The ComfortThin seat will provide a dramatically thinner, tailored seat back with up to a 20 per cent reduction at the centre of the seat and a 35 per cent or more reduction in the bolsters.
