Automotive supplier Brose expands in India

Automotive supplier Brose Group has moved into a bigger facility in Pune, adding further production capacity and R&D capabilities
The international automotive supplier Brose has expanded its Indian operations in Pune by moving in to a new production facility. In addition, the company is installing new testing and prototyping equipment at the new plant.
With a floor space of approximately 46,000 sq. ft., the facility would help increase Brose’s range of locally manufactured products and further enhance the local value addition to product development. Currently there are 75 employees at the new plant and production output is anticipated to reach 2.4 million units by 2015.
In addition to manufacturing, the new facility would house a laboratory for validation testing to further support Brose’s domestic business development. The new location features a state of the art walk-in climate chamber. “Very few automotive suppliers in India possess this type of facility,” says Ashwani Aggarwal, President, Brose India. Along with validation, the company is also setting up a prototype shop to enhance the product development capabilities in India. Brose in India counts leading car manufacturers such as General Motors and Ford among its customers.
Brose is a partner to the international automobile industry and delivers systems for vehicle doors, liftgates, seat structures and electric drives to around 80 car brands and more than 30 suppliers. It employs close to 22,500 people at 58 locations in 23 countries. Brose in India currently manufactures window regulators and seat height adjusters for various domestic and international OEM’s. The company claims that every third new vehicle worldwide is equipped with at least one Brose product and its every tenth employee works on new products and processes. Its production output is anticipated to reach 2.4 million units by 2015.
