Online predictable chainflex cables meets RoHsII requirements

RoHs (restriction of hazardous substances) regulates the use of hazardous substances in electronic devices. This EU directive aims to avoid harmful components such as lead, mercury or plasticisers in products and work environments. All of igus’ 1,354 highly flexible chainflex cables comply with the requirements of the current RoHS II directive. This ensures legal and functional safety for machine builders for safe use and disposal for the user.

With 1,354 types, igus offers the largest cable range for the energy chain with the most comprehensive selection of international approvals from stock. With over 2 billion test cycles completed per year for all chainflex cables and over 1.4 million electrical tests conducted in its own 2,750 square metre test lab, igus is the only manufacturer in the world to offer a 36-month guarantee on its complete range of cables. The chainflex cables with a predictable service life make a decisive contribution to the safe operation of moving applications. It also fulfils the “restriction of hazardous substances” (RoHs) II specifications for the safety of humans and the environment. Now the chainflex motor cable CF30 has been tested in test 5191 with 25 million cycles and the RoHs II conformity confirmed.

RoHs II guidelines provide planning reliability
The extended EU Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS II) further lowered the permissible limits for hazardous substances, including phthalates. The igus brand meets the requirements for highly flexible chainflex cables even without the use of these toxic phthalates;an important criterion for later recycling or disposal. For machine builders exporting to the EU, RoHS certification of the cables used will make it easier to achieve CE conformity. But companies with non-EU customers also get planning reliability regarding other standards. As similar regulations come into effect in countries such as the US, Japan or China, these standards must increasingly be met globally.
