Talking about safety automation, Sanjay Kulkarni, Managing Director, Pilz India Pvt. Ltd., told OEM Update that Pilz is a solution supplier of sensors, actuators as well as control systems. Knowledge around safety is our prime focus. In October 2011, Pilz inaugurated an Indian subsidiary in Pune. Since then we have been creating awareness about safety automation, International Machinery safety standards and Directives in India. From the beginning Pilz India focused on technical competence and offered various valued solutions to the market, thus establishing itself as a leading brand in safe automation. 

Further, Sanjay said, we have developed services infrastructure since inception and offered services for Automotive, Metal forming, FMCG end-users and several machinery manufacturers. As of today, we have 35 plus highly qualified team members, spread across the country to support our customers locally. We also offer services like machinery safety assessment, validation, CE Marking and training etc. Apart from that, considering the industry 4.0, we are supporting our customers for implementing solutions around industry 4.0 with controllers and in that facet, we cover the important topics of safety and security. 

Future of sensor management for different applications 

Sensors are becoming more and more intelligent. But now, they are used in a lot of applications providing a lot of additional information as well and when you connect these sensors to a smart controller, we can predict endurance, predict the failures and can also control the overall application in a much better way. Also, you can extract the data and then based on that data analysis, you can get better efficiency than what we used to get. 

New innovations in Safety relay technology from Pilz 

Pilz is a leader and a pioneer in safety relay technology. We developed the World’s first safety relay in 1987. And as technology changes periodically, we have bought out different innovative series of safety relays over the time. The First safety relay for Emergency Stop application was from our PNOZ classic series which was shortly followed by the PNOZ X series catering to a wide range of applications like two hand safety, safe stand still etc. In the year 2002, we developed a product called PNOZsigma which the name suggests was our sum of experience. 

And now, this year, we launched a product called myPNOZ safety relay. myPNOZ is all about digitalisation and it has technology wherein the customer has the choice to create his own safety relay and not just rely to purchase an on the shelf product. Every customer’s application is different, every customer’s buying behaviour is different, and hence myPNOZ helps customers create their own safety relay, by using the easy to operate configurator available online. The myPNOZ configurator not only creates your own safety relay but also provides extended information like application specific wiring diagram, safety matrix etc. The product is shipped in a batch size of 1 which the customer just needs to wire as per the wiring diagram provided. It is a new concept, wherein every time a product is developed for a specific customer. The flexibility is the theme and its uniqueness apart from digitalisation.
