Precise track motion for medium robots

Robotics major ABB introduced IRBT 2005, a smart and compact Medium Track Motion platform (MTM) for medium robots.
“The new track motion platform offers greater flexibility and up to 50 per cent shorter cycle times,” ABB claims.
IRBT 2005 comprised of a 1 metre long module that allows additional track and travel lengths for both robots and transfer applications.
“When designing the IRBT 2005, we optimised the movement of both the robot and the track,” says Torbjorn Albertsson, ABB Product Manager. “Our QuickMove and TrueMove software combine to guarantee path accuracy and speed.”
Ideally suited for a wide range of applications including arc welding, material handling and machine tending, the IRBT 2005 from ABB is available with multiple carriages – two for the robot and up to three for transfer applications – to carry other process applications thereby increasing productivity.
“The track’s components have been completely integrated to ensure their protection in a smaller footprint and to keep maintenance to a minimum,” adds Albertsson.
Adaptable to various environments, the IRBT 2005 is available in two variants, standard uncovered and fully covered, and supports the following robot families: IRB 1520, IRB 1600, IRB 2600 and IRB 4600.
