Achieving another milestone project in the engineering world, the Heavy Engineering business of Larsen & Toubro has completed and flagged off India’s heaviest hydrocracker reactor ahead of schedule.
The reactor, weighing 1,858 metric tonnes, is manufactured for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s Visakh Refinery Modernisation Project. The reactor will sail directly to Visakhapatnam from Larsen & Toubro’s fully integrated state-of-the-art coastal manufacturing facility located at Hazira in Gujarat.
S Raja, Executive Director – Visakh Refinery Modernisation Project, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, said, “We are proud to have been associated with L&T and would like to congratulate you for establishing a benchmark in manufacturing India’s heaviest hydrocracker reactor, weighing 1,858 MT. We are happy to put on record that L&T has successfully achieved early delivery for the FCHCU reactors meeting the quality and safety requirement, with first time right and zero defects, being a marvellous achievement.”
YS Trivedi, Senior Vice President and Head, L&T Heavy Engineering, said, “This is a benchmark achievement and we are proud to have been chosen by HPCL to deliver India’s heaviest hydrocracker reactor. We are happy that we have lived up to the expectations of HPCL and flagged off this reactor ahead of schedule. This is one more example of L&T’s contribution to the “Make in India” programme. We are presently manufacturing several hydrocracker reactors for HPCL Visakh Refinery’s Residue Up-gradation Facility (RUF) project. When delivered, this will be an international benchmark.”
