Smart Pump technology is paving the way for new pumping-process advancements as well as for digital manufacturing possibilities.

Technological advancements are occurring across a multitude of industries, including automotive, aviation and telecommunications, as well as more traditional industries such as chemical, food, pharma, pulp and paper. One of the key technologies in these industries is pumping technology. Pumping technology is the process by which a fluid is moved by mechanical means. DMK SmartPump technology is a top-tier technology for industry that increases process capabilities, improves efficiency, and generates new possibilities for creating new products that have not been able to be created before. Smart Pump technology is paving the way for new pumping-process advancements as well as for digital manufacturing possibilities, regardless of industry or application.

Typical pumps can be divided into two different categories: either rotary or compression pumps. The wide range of pumps has allowed process industries to pump a vast selection of different liquids at a wide range of flow rates and pressures. The industry has been able to adapt and overcome certain obstacles with industry-standard pumps. In essence, these pumps are simple mechanical devices, not instantly compatible with modern digital manufacturing and requiring additional sensors and other devices to be installed up- and downstream of the pump.

Smart Pump technology is so advanced that it is able to monitor and measure the pumping characteristics without having any sensors immersed in the liquid being pumped. This is attributable to the manner in which the Smart Pump is constructed and the technology applied. Therefore, Smart Pump technology allows for a vast array of liquids to be pumped without having to worry about sensor wear and tear, since the sensors are not in direct contact with the liquid. Using this advanced method allows operators to be able to confidently monitor and adjust the process based on the feedback that the Smart Pump provides.

DMK Smart Pump technology overcomes the restrictions of both rotary and compressions pumps. Due to the mechanical nature of the Smart Pump, it is able to pump nearly any size particle (under the proviso that the bigger the particle, the bigger the pump), with current models allowing for sizes up to 25mm and future models to allow up to and exceeding 50mm. In addition, the DMK Smart Pump has been proven to pump high viscosity fluids without the need for a bulk unloader and minimal head. This further extends the realm of possibilities for applications where the DMK Smart Pump can be used. Finally, the DMK Smart Pump has been tested to pump fluids at pressures of up to 40Bars and new models with pressures of up to 120Bar. Taking all the these characteristics into consideration, makes clear that the DMK Smart Pump overcomes the challenges with rotary and compression pumps and allows for a significantly wider range of uses and applications.
