In your view, how can foreign collaboration and partnerships help India expand its industrial capacity?
India is seen as a new energy market in the developing world by many international businesses. India, too, has strived to hard sell itself as a lucrative destination for investment, and today, many companies, big or small, are looking to invest in India. It is a critical trigger for economic growth in developing nations like India. With the help of the Indian government’s favorable policy regime and the AatmaNirbhar Bharat business environment in India considered more favorable, industrial development has ensured that foreign capital keeps flowing into the country. How will Industry 4.0/ 5.0 optimize production in the current scenario when digitization is in vogue?
Today’s changing market dynamics require flexibility, adaptability, and agility in real-time production processes. Thus, manufacturing automation or Smart Factory is the response to this issue. As we know, automation brings many benefits, e.g., the physical world can be linked virtually with the virtualization process. Another benefit is real-time capability; with sensors (IoT), it is possible to analyze data continuously to react to any changes in the environment in real time. The Internet of Things (IoT) allows the connection of machines, people, and systems in the enterprise, improving the production process. When a company invests in “Industry 4.0/5.0,” it will change technological aspects, product development processes, manufacturing, after-sales services, and security. It also scales the manufacturing quality, flexible production planning, rapid reaction to changes in demand, and overall improvements in the production process.

How will PLI aid manufacturers to ramp up production?
2021 will be known for launching some of the crucial schemes and rolling out key reforms by the Indian government to encourage large companies to ramp up their manufacturing base and boost exports from India. PLI scheme will be a game-changer that is bringing investment to India, boosting manufacturing and exports. There is no doubt that PLI’s are an innovative idea that can reduce India’s trade deficit and boost manufacturing and exports. It is expected to give a much-needed booster dose to capex cycle in the medium term. This could potentially trigger Rs 2.5-3.0 lakh crore of capex spread across 14 sub-schemes and generate Rs 35-40 lakh of incremental revenues. The initiatives provide a much needed push to India’s manufacturing sector and, when cumulative efforts combine, will also make India a superior domestic manufacturer and a favorable investment center.
