Lars Dithmer, Managing Director, Alfa Laval India Ltd shares his views on the future of ‘Make in India’.
Awareness of opportunitiesPost ‘Make in India’ initiative, the awareness of the opportunities in India and the importance of developing the manufacturing sector in India has increased. New investments need to be state-of-the-art, securing sustainable operation and provide a platform for manufacturing products fit for both the domestic and the global market.
Opportunities make India the hot spotThe opportunities in India across many sectors make India an interesting market to both explore and invest in. A rising middle class will drive demand for a range of products of services. India represents with its vast resources, diverse population and geography, a significant potential domestically as well as a platform for global supplies and Alfa Laval is looking forward to developing its business in and out of India further in the coming years.
Activities to be initiated to avoid hurdlesInitiatives which can facilitate easier and faster business transactions internally in India across states are welcome. Activities should be initiated to improve and establish highways and transport corridors. It is essential that bottle-necks are dealt with whereby the overall door-to-door transit time in India can be further reduced. A “one-stop” government service for companies is required when it is required to expand or establish new facilities. This should bring a better visibility on the timeline for such undertakings and would support the decision process for the investment.
Facilities for future developmentAlfa Laval India Ltd is proud to share that it has been ‘Making in India’ for more than five decades, serving the domestic market as well as its export markets across the globe. Today Alfa Laval manufactures products and engineered solutions in India for its three key technology areas; heat transfer, separation and fluid handling. The products and solutions are in need in most process industries, the food and beverage, energy and environment sectors representing most significant business areas in India. Its facilities have been and will also in the future develop with the market requirements both domestically and abroad, hence Alfa Laval is consistently working with the development of what and how to “Make in India”. Its products help Indian customers to realise their “Make in India” potential.
