Future look for IIoT in manufacturing
It is believed that Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is going to revolutionise manufacturing. IIoT actually does have solutions to a lot of problems faced by the industry and beyond, but faces its own unique challenges too.
Ram Grover, Managing Director, Elesa and Ganter India Pvt Ltd, says, “In today’s world, all the interconnected devices with advanced features and capabilities that make our day-to-day lives more efficient fall under the IIoT umbrella term.”
He adds, “With IIoT there’s change involved. Manufacturers must change their processes and how they work, but they must welcome technology that promises greater efficiency and therefore productivity with open arms. IIoT can bring various benefits like more intelligent machinery, better data collection and analysis, improved resource management to name a few.”
Future for IIoT is extremely bright in manufacturing. Fast-forward to 2020 this figure of connected things will most likely to reach 20.4 billion. Unarguably, IIoT is not a fad; it’s a trend that will completely revolutionise manufacturing.
Industries that will drive IIoT adoption in 2018
2018 will witness a lot of changes with faster acceptance of Industrial IoT into various industries such as utilities, manufacturing, automotive, transportation, and logistics leading the way, followed by healthcare, retail and agriculture. Grover informs, “Industrial IoT is the environmental warrior that many industries are adopting increasingly. Infact, an IoT enabled system will minimise error and also reduce the manpower required for the industry. This in turn results in huge savings while delivering safer and better results.”
Elesa and Ganter’s preparedness in the area of IIoT
Elesa (Italy) + Ganter (Germany) is into business of standard machine elements. Company’s manufacturing facilities in Italy and Germany are already equipped with fully automatic production units with the latest technologies. Grover adds, “We do understand that rapid technological change is transforming the production of goods and services throughout much of the global economy.”
Grover informs, “With IIoT enabled machines, it has become more imperative that the machines are handled, operated and fueled with best of the standard parts and elements, this is where we come in and become part of the coherent mechanised ecosystem. Our product and design team are always evolving to cater to the dynamics of industrial world.”
