The Grinding Symposium 2019 event of the UNITED GRINDING Group was successfully inaugurated at Thun, Switzerland. The event will be taking place for 8th to 19th May.At the 1st day of the symposium, technical innovations and trends in the field of hard finishing were presented in the form of presentations and demonstrations. Innovative presentations and machines from MÄGERLE, BLOHM, JUNG, STUDER, SCHAUDT, MIKROSA, WALTER and EWAG where displayed at the event.

Exciting lectures by international experts on current hot topics were an integral part of the 1st day at the Grinding Symposium. The main two questions on ‘In which production tasks, can new software programs and new machines from the UNITED GRINDING Group support youeven better?’and ‘Which solutions are relevantfor the production of tomorrow and beyond?’were answered by twoof the core elements of the Grinding Symposium: the technology presentations andFutureLAB.

At the stations in the new Hall 6, specialists fromthe Group presented new software solutions and machines, including at leastone world premiere. Questions pertaining to specifics and which concrete machining steps will benefit were answered knowledgeably and clearlyusing the example of individualmachines, as well as in lecturesand presentations.

The main highlight of Day 1 was the FutureLAB. The UNITED GRINDING Group already offers production monitoring by an online monitoring service, system-specific support by a remote service under the DigitalSolutions™ label. The FutureLABfurther examined which digital solutions are conceivable in the production environment. On an area of over 300 square meters, FutureLAB is a part ofthe Grinding Symposium for the first time.“We can get a glimpse of the machine manufacturing of tomorrow in dynamic presentations and interactive processes”, says ChiefInnovation Officer Christoph Plüss.

Lectures on ‘How is digitalisation changing machine manufacturing?’ and ‘Which innovations are there in grinding technology?’ are the topic of discussion for the upcoming days at the Symposium.
