India – A key strategic market
DMG Mori considers India as a key strategic market for the company and is committed to increase its focus on localising technology. Christian Thoenes, Chairman, DMG MORI AG explains, “DMG Mori together employs more than 12,000 employees across the world and has a business volume of around US$ 4 billion. We have installed over 10,000 machines globally. Today we are the biggest supplier of aerospace solutions – around US$400 million comes from aerospace industry.”

In India, DMG Mori is well-known for its high-precision turning and milling machines. “We offer best-in-class 5-axis machining in Indian market and so far we have installed around 400 5-axis machines here,” Thoenes claims. DMG MORI India’s Managing Director Miyamoto Shinji and Deputy Managing Director Sunil Rao were also present at the occasion.

DMG Mori is working towards localising technology in India and plans to set up a full-fledged spindle repair centre here, informs Thoenes. He said, “Often customers do not make use of our highly sophisticated machines up to their fullest potential in terms of efficiency and productivity. Therefore we have decided to hire more service and application people which will enable customers to use our high-precision, sophisticated machines optimally.”

Gearing up for Smart Factory
Explaining the company’s direction on the IoT front, he said, “All our machines are equipped with CELOS – app-based interface with unique multi-touch operation. This facilitates greatest degree of ease in machining.” CELOS provides a uniform user interface for all new high-tech machines from DMG MORI. CELOS APPs provide the user with integrated management, documentation and visualisation of order, process and machine data on a unique 21.5-inch multi-touch screen. At IMTEX, DMG showcased how CELOS is completely integrated in a company with the machine and links it to digitised production and automation solutions.

Technology showcased
DMC 1150 V
Drawing on the experience of over 10,000 installed vertical machining centers, DMG MORI has completely redesigned the third generation of the DMC V series. Together with its sister machines – the DMC 650 V, DMC 850 V and DMC 1450 V – the DMC 1150 V boosts the performance of the vertical machining centres from DMG MORI into a new dimension. According to the company, the key feature that ensures the “Best in Class” status of this product line is its unique concept that includes a highly stable machine bed with an overhead slide unit, 28 per cent larger guide ways and 25 per cent larger ball screws – the perfect foundation for maximum process stability. The innovative thermal management with cooling of the ball screw nuts and guides in all three linear axes ensures maximum component precision.

NLX 2000
The NLX series from DMG MORI has always stood for perfect results in turning. Numerous equipment options also make the NLX 2000 a productive companion in demanding production environments. It is an extremely rigid, high-precision CNC lathe that is able to machine a multitude of different workpieces. Decisive features in this respect include its robust machine bed and outstanding milling performance that derives from the use of a BMT (Built-in Motor Turret). With its space-saving design the NLX 2000 also enables simple integration of automation solutions, so that its scope of application ranges from the serial production of automobile parts right through to the highly elaborate and high quality machining of parts for the aircraft industry.
