CERATIZIT’s hi.flex-micro precision adjustment head for spindle machining operations

The new hi.flex-micro precision adjustment head from CERATIZIT marks another stage in the ongoing success story of the hi.flex system.

Does precision fit in even the smallest diameters? Anyone breaking into a cold sweat just thinking about this can relax; the new hi.flex-micro precision adjustment head from CERATIZIT marks another stage in the ongoing success story of the hi.flex system. With a boring range extending from 0.5 mm to 60 mm diameter, it is also an all-rounder for demanding spindle machining operations.

Spindles are the ideal tools for situations where fits must be machined precisely in positional accuracy, cylindrical shape, roundness and surface quality. “Precision fits down to micron tolerances have become the standard, even for small holes. We have set new standards to drastically reduce the size of our absolute trailblazer hi.flex. In terms of user-friendliness, the hi.flex, is engineered to meet the requirements of micro fit applications,” is proudly introduced the new hi.flex micro precision adjustment head.

‘Little brother’ with an exemplary role
The hi.flex family is an established name in machining circles where the focus is on high-precision holes. The new hi.flex micro completes the CERATIZIT offering at the smaller end of its product range for precision adjustment heads. “This boring system illustrates how we’re now focusing clearly on the micro fit sector with diameters as small as 0.5 mm. However, with the help of accessories, we can cover the complete range up to 60 mm, which makes the hi.flex micro is an absolute all-rounder!”

Another significant factor is the superb, straightforward handling of the hi.flex micro. The adjustment head offers a setting accuracy of 0.002 mm using the easy-to-read vernier scale with adjustment of up to 5 mm in diameter. One key is required for all work steps, such as clamping, settings or adjustments, and for fitting serrated bodies and insert holders. The hi.flex micro is balanced in the slide centre position and guarantees a thorough coolant supply directly at the cutting edge across the complete range of diameters.

CERATIZIT-OEM

Perfectly adapted
Its name drops a big hint: due to its modular, very lightweight design, the hi.flex micro is highly flexible. With just a single head dimension and the use of serrated bodies, insert holders, various boring bars and intelligently designed adapter solutions, it covers a range of diameters from 0.5 to 60 mm.

Another new feature – the boring bar adapter – permits the use of the UltraMini and EcoCut boring bars from CERATIZIT. Four clamping flats are located at 90° intervals around the periphery of the clamping diameter of the adapter. These enable any boring bars from the extensive CERATIZIT range to be used, regardless of which side of the boring bar the clamping flat is located. A particular highlight of the adapter is that it can also be used with boring bars with an internal coolant supply, making it the ideal and flexible partner for UltraMini and EcoCut boring bars. The overall package is rounded off by semi-standard boring bars adapted and customised for the application.

Performance and precision combined.
The favourable mass relationship and the symmetrically balanced design enable speeds of up to 30,000 rpm to be achieved. Another contributory factor is the radially positioned balancing threads, which permit precision balancing to be carried out in the working position. “A high speed and good quality balancing are essential prerequisites for producing the smallest fits. Our hi.flex micro fully satisfies both requirements. The system is, therefore, a solid investment and an absolute must-have for every well-equipped production facility – not least due to its lasting durability and attractive price”
