PWO puts Schuler TwinServo press into operation

PWO puts Schuler TwinServo press into operation

April 11, 2020 11:04 am

Progress-Werk Oberkirch (PWO) AG has officially started up a TwinServo press at its Czech location in Valašské Meziříčí. The 2,500-tonne system forms parts for car seats from high-strength sheet metal. The four underfloor drives supply power equivalent to 2,200 hp.

“A wonderful press” is how PWO board member Johannes Obrecht sums it up. “More and more high-strength sheets are being installed in the seats to increase safety and to save weight. For this, we need more press force. At the same time, the required quality increases, and this is why we opted for a very rigid press with an underfloor drive.”

The Czech Republic has developed into a centre for the production of car seats, and many PWO customers are represented here. “About 15 years ago, we took over a supplier with many motivated and competent employees here,” explains CFO Bernd Bartmann. “With almost 700 employees, it is the largest foreign location in the group today.”
