Walpha Engineering, established in 1975, is the brainchild of Amardeep Patheja, a well-experienced technocrat and a qualified mechanical engineer. The company was established with an aim to develop and manufacture electromagnetic and mechanical clutches and clutch plates for machine tool application.

A small seed planted in 1975 for developing and manufacturing of electromagnetic and mechanical clutches and brakes for the first time in India has grown into a well-established and highly successful industry. Backed by a highly qualified and efficient team of technocrats, Walpha is the first Indian company to have successfully developed about 600 different types of clutches, over 3,000 types of clutch plates and 50 types of current supply brushes. Walpha Engineering is well known for successfully import substituting multidisc electromagnetic clutches and brakes. The company manufactures clutches equivalent to those manufactured by Siemens Germany (EK1 to EK60 Series), Moninghoff, Ortlinghaus, Binder Magnet, Heid, Stromag, Warner and various other makes.

Walpha is also one of the leading manufacturers of single disc (dry) clutches and brakes, fail-safe brakes, mechanical clutches, clutch brake combinations, clutch plates, telescopic brushes and friction material since over 35 years. With its expertise and experience spanning over 3 decades, Walpha is in a position to develop and manufacture any type of clutch/ brake and clutch plates used by the machine tool industry. The very fact that Walpha is the original equipment supplier for several machine tool manufacturers like Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) speaks volumes of its quality assurance and reliability. Other than this, Walpha supplies clutches to almost all the industries such as manufacturing, packaging, textile, mining, pharmaceutical, automobile, power transmission, etc. The company also supplies its products to defence and railways and has a strong presence in the international markets. Walpha’s efforts towards import substitution and innovation were well recognised by the Government of India and the company was awarded the national award for import substitution on 26th January 1979. The promoter, Amardeep Patheja, who is the company’s guiding force, has been honoured with several awards and recognitions for his personal contribution to the Indian machine tools industry, for excellence in import substitution, for his entrepreneurship and marketing skills, the quality of his products and his contribution to the society. “Walpha” is recognised as a trusted and recommended brand name and is in a position to develop and manufacture any type of industrial clutches to the entire satisfaction of its customers.
