The most intuitive ways to wire

The most intuitive ways to wire

June 11, 2018 6:25 pm

WAGO’s TOPJOB S Rail-Mount Terminal Blocks are now available with levers.Pull the lever up, insert a conductor and push the lever back down: The ingeniously simple connection technology is now DIN-rail ready as the newest variant to WAGO’s trusted TOPJOB S Rail-Mount Terminal Block family.

This means that even in the control cabinet, conductors can now be easily connected by hand and removed without tools. The user benefits from simple and intuitive use, especially for in-the-field wiring: The terminal point is clearly marked by the open lever, which reduces the risk of forgetting terminal points when wiring or connecting conductors incorrectly. In addition, both hands remain free for wiring because the clamping unit does not need to be kept open with an operating tool. This convenience facilitates connecting difficult-to-bend conductors with large cross sections.

WAGO’s rail-mount terminal blocks with levers are suitable for all types of conductors: solid, stranded and fine-stranded conductors. Like the tried-and-tested version of the TOPJOB S Rail-Mount Terminal Blocks with operating slots, the new lever-equipped blocks feature push-in connection technology. This allows the levers to remain closed while allowing fine-stranded conductors with gas-tight, crimped ferrules and a cross-section of 0.75 sq.mm. (18 AWG) to be directly plugged into the unit in addition to solid conductors. With side conductor entry, the rail-mount terminal blocks with levers even permit large, difficult-to-bend conductors to be easily connected.

In a first, WAGO offers rail-mount terminal blocks with levers in the nominal cross-sections of 2.5 sq.mm. (14 AWG), 6 sq.mm. (10 AWG) and 16 sq.mm. (8 AWG) – primarily for the infeed and the most common conductor cross-section. These terminal blocks are available in 2- or 3-conductor variants. The field side of WAGO’s rail-mount terminal block is equipped with a lever; a push-button or operating slot is available for internal wiring. In the future, lever connection will be extended to other products in WAGO’s TOPJOB S Rail-Mount Terminal Block family.

At a glance
• Simple and intuitive termination and removal by hand
• The lever design ensures that the clamping unit is either open or closed
• Easy connection of difficult-to-bend conductors via side-entry conductor insertion
• Nominal cross-sections: 2.5 sq.mm. (14 AWG), 6 sq.mm. (10 AWG) and 16 sq.mm. (8 AWG)
• 2- and 3-conductor versions.
