Today, the automotive industry is continuously seeking ways to build more fuel-efficient cars. Process cost reduction, reduced waste generation and improved working conditions have become the critical need of the hour.
To address these changing manufacturing requirements, especially in the metal working area, Henkel introduced the new product Bonderite duaLCys earlier this year. This new process is the synergy between a lubricant and a cleaner: Bonderite C-NE 10466 high performance, water-based neutral cleaner and Bonderite L-MR 21466, a cutting fluid. The new process requires less water, helps to minimize waste and saves energy by allowing the washer bath to operate at a reduced temperature. In addition to delivering high surface quality, it also offers improved working conditions resulting from the use of safe, more predictable solution.
The patented technology allows for metal machining operators to be more sustainable, improve cleaning performance and save money – all at the same time. Barun Bharadwaj, Business director – Transport & Metal, Henkel Adhesives Technologies India Pvt Ltd, says, “It (Bonderite duaLCys) reduces costs by over 40 per cent by using an innovative process that leverages the synergies between the lubricant and the cleaning fluid.” In the Bonderite duaLCys process, the in-process cleaner is recycled into the lubrication bath, rather than being discarded as waste.
“The product application already has extensive adoption amongst European car manufacturers and their auto suppliers. This technology was showcased to prospective clients who visited the Henkel stall at IMTEX 2017 by using a CNC machine, where the product received positive feedback from customers,” Bharadwaj claims.
