Faurecia begins production at new plant in Bangalore

Emissions control technologies provider, Faurecia, has recently inaugurated its new plant in Bidadi near Bangalore. The plant, which went on stream in September 2012, has been set up especially to manufacture hot end, cold end and instrument panel reinforcement tubes for Toyota India. Faurecia is the supplier of emissions control solutions for Toyota vehicles Etios, Liva, Innova, Fortuner and Corolla assembled in India.
Faurecia Emissions Control Technologies (FECT) in Bangalore started production for Toyota in March 2004. The new plant is situated less than 5 km from Toyota’s assembly plant. The plant is dimensioned to deliver over 400 car sets a day for Toyota Plant-1 (Innova, Fortuner) and close to 700 car sets a day for Toyota Plant -2 (Etios, Liva, Corolla). According to Faurecia, the new facility near Toyota helps to significantly improve the response time in supply-chain as well as supports the growing demand from Toyota.
Speaking on the occasion, Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Motors said, “We now consider Faurecia as an associated member of the Toyota family and appreciate their efforts in helping Toyota achieve great success in the Indian automotive market.”
Thierry Depoux, Vice President International Operations, Faurecia underlines, “Faurecia is the largest emissions control technologies supplier in the world. We consider India as a strategic market growing in small cars and diesel technology. We are investing in India rapidly so as to introduce the latest emissions control technologies over the next five years in the view of adapting our products to the Indian legislations (Bharat-IV & Bharat-V).”
Mahendra Killedar, Country General Manager stated, “Toyota has always guided our activity in India on a robust growth path. This new plant is a symbol of our strong business relationship and ongoing commitment towards Toyota, one of our key customers in India.”
Faurecia entered India in 1995, with its Emissions Control business in Nasik, Maharashtra. Currently, the company is headquartered in Pune having two R&D centers and nine production facilities in the country.
