Yaskawa India Pvt. Ltd. is 100 per cent subsidiary of Yaskawa Electric Corporation, Japan. Worldwide Yaskawa has 81 subsidiaries and 24 affiliates in various businesses including motion control, robotics, system engineering and others. Mr Khurana talks about Yaskawa’s journey and comments on its insights in the robotics industry.
Journey so farYaskawa is one of the global leaders in manufacturing of robotics, servo and inverters. In the year 2015, the company is going to celebrate 100th year of Yaskawa Japan establishment and 10th year of Yaskawa India formation in India.
Yaskawa management’s philosophy has been to contribute to the evolution of society and the welfare of mankind through the performance of its business.
“We focus on to contributing to the further evolution of society by strengthening our core business of servo motor, controller, AC drives and industrial robots and by offering customers new solutions using these core technologies to the full,” says Mr Khurana. “We believe in providing the optimal solution through performance and reliability of our products and winning high customer satisfaction.”
Major contributions Today in India, Yaskawa has more than 3,500 successful robotic installations primarily in automotive industry. It has been providing robots and solutions for applications like welding, painting, handling, palletising, assembly, cutting, deburring etc. When it comes to cost, the company has effectively automated the welding lines of OEMs and their tier-1 and tier-2 vendors.
Yaskawa also claims that In India, it was the first robotic company to introduce robotic ultrasonic welding system for plastic component welding and turnkey robotic painting solutions.Using technology The company is working to create a market for robots that are closer to humans and co-exist with them in the ‘Robotics Human Assist’ business domain, while keeping industrial robots at the core.
In Yaskawa’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Japan, robots are used for manufacturing the robots and the company is despatching more than 20,000 robots every month.
Working for customer satisfactionToday after 10 years of its existence in Indian market the company is positioned well in the industry and has become one of the market leaders. In addition, it is having after sales service support with training facilities at Gurgaon, Pune, Chennai and Bangalore.
“Over the years we have developed our strong service team and our strength is customer satisfaction. We are the only robot manufacturers to provide 24×7 service to the customers,” believes Mr Khurana.
The company also understands that in today’s business scenario service is most important aspect for the growth of organisation and the customers’ expectations are also very high and it is continuously taking efforts to do well in this area.
Seeing India as potential marketYaskawa’s robotics applications presence in India started in 2005. Its core strengths include welding, assembly, coating, dispensing and material cutting. The installations have been successful across industries from healthcare to manufacturing plants, entertainment parks, commercial establishments and core industries such as automotive, light and heavy engineering.
In the application robots segment, Yaskawa addresses needs including:• Arc welding• Spot welding• Handling robot• Pick, pack and palletising from 2 kg to 800 kg load capacity• Painting robot.
Industrial robot sales in India is going to increase every year by 30 – 40 per cent and after China market India is going to be the biggest market for robot manufacturers. Keeping the same in mind and realising the potential in Indian market, Yaskawa Japan has huge investment and growth plans for its India operations in future.
