Creation of 100 million jobs in the next 10 years can be made possible only if the government brings in positive measures for its creation- Sudhir Kalla, President – Sales of Inverter and Battery Division, Luminous Power Technologies
Manufacturing sector welcomes enormous growthThe industrial sector of the Indian economy is one of the main constituents towards the growth module of the country. Contributing approximately 17 per cent share to the Indian GDP with an expected growth rate of about 7 per cent per annum, the manufacturing sector of the country is one of the important cogs in the country’s economic rally.
While the Indian economy is on an upward trend, the contribution of the manufacturing sector has been significant to say the least. Interesting to quote herein is a report by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) which points that the majority of the constituents of the manufacturing sector see an upward of 15 per cent increase in their growth chart, which shows the robust health of the sector.
The only requirement for the manufacturing sector right now is positive governmental support wherein through positive measures the industry and the government can together create extensive job opportunities and thus promote the manufacturing sector
The Indian manufacturing sector is now one of the top 10 industrial production countries as a new report by UNIDO portrays. This shows the relevance of the industry and its current state of robust growth. In the same way the power backup manufacturing industry has also seen a robust growth wherein it has become an estimated Rs. 20,000 crore market and is poised to grow at about an estimated growth of 22 per cent per annum. While the power backup sector has made remarkable progresses over decades, it is the sustained progress of the industry which has helped it make remarkable progresses in the Indian manufacturing sector.
The report titled ‘2010 Global Manufacturing Competitiveness Index’ by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and the US Council on Competitiveness, India has been ranked second for its manufacturing competence. Taking reference to this report Sudhir Kalla, President – Sales of Inverter and Battery Division, Luminous Power Technologies said, “The Indian industry is on the right track of achieving manufacturing excellence. The manufacturing sector in India is on a continual spiral of achieving phenomenal growth ratio and is poised to become one of the leading contributors to the Indian economic excellence”.
Initiate steps to boost the sector“Redundant policy measures and lacklustre political involvement is robbing the Indian manufacturing sector of its sheen which becomes an impediment into optimisation of resources and also acts as a barrier to hone skills for industrial manufacturing facilities. Favourable policy measures while helping in creating a pertinent groundwork also aid in creating a module of self-reliance which helps the manufacturing sector to create a positive framework to work around”, observes Mr. Kalla. “I would also say that the government should come up with a positive approach and should forward favourable sops and utilities to the sector which will help in boosting the confidence of the sector and also bring in more enthusiasm coupled with more investment into the sector”.
Expectations from 12th Five Year PlanThe industry expects sweeping reforms which will go a long way in bringing parity to operations in the sector. According to Mr. Kalla, “While the industry is surging ahead in face of growing progresses, it also expects positive policy support from the government for its continual growth. Policy measures in terms of increasing employment in the sector which will help in creating more opportunities of growth in the sector”.
It is a well known fact that, in the manufacturing sector, more hands mean more revenue and thus the government should look into the fact that employment boost is a requirement for the sector. “The government should help the industry with benefits which will aid in enhancing the capacity for growth of the sector. Additionally steps should be taken for decentralisation and empowerment of the industry which shall give fillip to the growth of the sector”, he adds.
100 million jobs – A realistic possibility100 million jobs in 10 years is realistic in Indian parlance wherein with the growth of population, more and more hands can join the production module and can help in providing a stimulus for growth in the sector. “India is an increasingly younger country which is more and more becoming younger as the day progresses. Thus creation of 100 million jobs in the next 10 years can be made possible only if the government brings in positive measures for its creation. Combining governmental policies along with industry measures can help achieve this dream which will surely make India the next big manufacturing hub of the country”, said Mr. Kalla.
Governmental support a boon to the sectorMr. Kalla shares his opinion, “The only requirement for the manufacturing sector right now is positive governmental support wherein through positive measures the industry and the government can together create extensive job opportunities and thus promote the manufacturing sector which will provide a boost to its growing relevance in the Indian economic set-up”.
The government should come up with measures which while aiding the manufacturing sector can add a fillip to its growth. “We expect the government to provide sops to the sector to increase productivity and add to the employment options. The advisory should also create a positive framework for increase in tax sops and investment opportunities which will bring in greater revenue into the sector and thus help in establishing it as the lead contributor to Indian economic growth”, added Mr. Kalla.
