What steps has WIKA taken to reduce its carbon footprint and promote sustainability in its operations?
WIKA is fully tuned to India’s recently established framework for voluntary carbon market and outlined pathway towards the Cap-and-Trade System. In terms of policy, WIKA Global is trying to achieve zero-carbon footprint in its operations by 2030, aligning with Global SDG goals and emphasis on green energy. WIKA is also focusing on the emerging segment of green hydrogen, where government incentives are available, and is developing solutions for this industry. Additionally, WIKA India is dedicated to Sustainability by focusing on plant operations using maximum solar power, currently at 54%.
Can you tell us more about WIKA’s approach to sustainability and how it aligns with the goals of the Indian government’s initiatives towards sustainability?
We are committed to assisting India in transitioning to a sustainable energy future by establishing clear and measurable sustainability goals and ensuring that all our activities align with them. We carefully evaluate the carbon footprint of our supply chain when purchasing new equipment or machines. We also aim to adopt best practices in Product Stewardship Guidelines (PSG) to ensure our products are environmentally sustainable throughout their lifecycle.
All our products and sensors are of best quality that help our clients to adhere to their sustainability planning, by pre-empting maintenance and reducing downtime.
What initiatives is WIKA taking to support India’s transition to renewable energy sources?
WIKA products, policies and future planning are all tuned to sustainability matrix. We understand very well that without fine instrumentation, digitisation and technology
drive towards sustainable businesses and process plants cannot become a reality. Thus, all our smart products and sensors are of the best quality that help our clients to adhere to their sustainability planning, by pre-empting maintenance and reducing downtime.
Can you tell us more about WIKA’s three-pronged strategy to achieve your goals in India?
WIKA India is aiming to double its turnover by 2025. Firstly, we are looking at transforming India to be the localization and distribution hub for the near-most global markets. Secondly, we are committed to maintaining world-class facilities with a strong emphasis on local content. Finally, we are fostering a value-driven culture within our organization to create an aspirational work environment for our employees. WIKA takes pride in the value-added services that are integrated part of our business and we prioritize sustainability index in all operations including the supply chain. We aim to be one of the most recalled brands in the instrumentation market.
