Manufacturing process to evolve with lesser downtime and higher production

Manufacturing process to evolve with lesser downtime and higher production

June 9, 2022 6:12 pm

Being Smart, being Industry ready. Smart Factories and the Internet of Things have already stepped well into the production ecosystem for many manufacturers.

P LI scheme will bring a boost among manufacturers by just not assembling the products in India but also manufacturing them, says Himanshu Sharma, Head, Marketing & Corporate Communications, B&R Industrial Automation.

Manufacturing with Industry 4.0/ 5.0 to optimize production in present times of digital adoption Though going through the readings, we have also seen how Industry 4.0 has brought a huge revolution amongst the manufacturers going digital. Industry 5.0 on the other has helped the manufacturers dig deep into the manufacturing ecosystem and make use of every digital space available to explore. The production facility has been shaped into a well customized digital structure where machine runtime is scrutinized well, and each and every dimension is focused on. There is a massive shift in the way products are manufactured with safety, flexibility, and better connectivity of sensors to the cloud. Manufacturers are growing to great heights with adaptability to IIOT and maintaining a secure connectivity environment. Smart Factories and the Internet of Things have already stepped well into the production ecosystem for many manufacturers. We now see from the plant floor to the control room that as factories grow smarter, so too grows the amount of data being transmitted and processed. Conventional Fieldbus systems can’t keep up with the everyday surge in volume and are now being replaced by Ethernet-based solutions such as real-time POWERLINK and OPC UA for higher-level communication.

How PLI extended will impact manufacturing and production to increase with AI, IIoT and additive manufacturing?

The PLI scheme will bring a boost among manufacturers by just not assembling the products in India but also manufacturing them. This gives a new rise in manufacturing techniques and helps to reduce dependency. This way it will impact a lot in new developments, growing digitally, and manufacturers investing extensively in their R&D teams. In vis a vis every manufacturing portfolio will grow because new conceptual and fast processes of the production line will be in focus to create smart factories which will need a lot of support with AI,IIOT, and additive manufacturing.

Will Indian manufacturers attract investments to ensure efficiency and cutting edge technology?

Indian manufacturers are smart and understand the time requirement. The big and the emerging players have seen the market adaptability and have also seen the volatility of the market. Making your manufacturing process smart and flexible leads to the adoption of digital concepts. Manufacturers have seen all these years that there is a product upliftment with the rise in implementing new technologies and innovations. Here, attracting investments depend upon how much variability a manufacturer shows in his products and how durable it fits the manufacturing ecosystem. Also, bringing out the digital concept provides upliftment to the product portfolio. We have seen through recent reports published online, that Indian manufacturers are soaring the world with their interest in adapting to innovations, this definitely gives a new way to attract investments and at the same time ensures efficiency through the implementation of cutting edge technology.

Smart factories evolving with AR and autonomous robotics implementation?

Frequent and revolutionary innovations have always helped factories become smart and hold the major market share. With every industrial revolution, we have been gifted with new dimensions of innovations. It is a reality now some smart factories are evolving with AR and autonomous robotics. The production time has reduced a lot and manufacturing processes have evolved with less downtime and higher production. Industrial autonomous robots were introduced to us by the third industrial revolution. These innovations are capable of undertaking pre-defined tasks such as moving certain objects for short destinations, or welding on the production line, repeatedly and rapidly, thus making them quite significant for factories. Here, B&R being a part of the ABB group has inculcated factory automation along with robots from ABB, this has given a new dimension of adaptability, thus giving rise to adaptive manufacturing. The concept of upliftment of smart manufacturing comes when we understand exactly how the OEM wants to uplift its existing machines by introducing the vision system products for better scrutiny, track technology for steering up the manufacturing process, connecting the field instruments to the cloud, and using the data effectively. All of these give rise to the new generation of manufacturing and B&R has a rich portfolio for all the above needs and more. OEMs now seek business partners who help them increasing the existing market share. B&R being the global partner of many tech giants has a history of transforming the manufacturing process in this cut edge technology driven industrial revolution.
