Schuler installs Production and Press Force Monitor for machines at Siemens location in Nuremberg, Germany

Schuler has upgraded eight lines to produce electrical motor laminations at Siemens’ Nuremberg plant.
This involves three presses and five automatic notchers from Schuler and Müller Weingarten, which now feature both a Production Monitor and a Press Force Monitor. They can be used to continuously monitor the operating status and the press force curve of the machines, even remotely.
“As the manufacturer of the presses, we have the necessary expertise to connect the machines to the Internet of Things,” explains Rohitashwa Pant, Chief Digital Officer at Schuler. The data not only provides information about productivity in the press shop but can also indicate damage that may be imminent. Unplanned downtime is effectively avoided in this way. The data is transmitted via a secure connection to Schuler’s data centre, where it is processed and visualised in easy-to-read graphics.
Siemens’ machinery and equipment plant in Nuremberg produces drives that are used in mining and ships, among other applications.
