Potential of 3D Printing/ prototyping are increasing with the trend towards concurrent engineering and wide application of CAD.
Nitin Chaudhary, Managing Partner, Sree Rapid Technologies Pvt. Ltd., in an interview explains how 3D printing and prototyping has been realigning the market trends of the automotive industry.
How are the present market trends impacting your industry?
2020 has been a defining year for the industrial segment considering the supply chain disruptions as well as manufacturing challenges. History has proven time and again, that adversity always leads to innovation. The current emanation for shorter development cycles & on-demand production of customizable products necessitated more agile designs, agile production workflows & agile supply chains. 3D Printing being one of the growth catalysts of Industry 4.0 is addressing all the need of the hour with its exceptional capabilities of reducing production time and delivering high-quality end-use parts at an affordable value.
How do you evaluate the demand for 3D printing and rapid prototyping in Indian industries?
With clear vision laid out by our respectable Prime Minister and our observation of on ground developments for at least the last 12 months one thing is clear; India is showing significant growth in Manufacturing. With ‘Make in India’ which also is leading to design / innovate in India, I am absolutely certain that the coming years are going to be watershed years for the manufacturing industry. 3D printing / additive manufacturing being the most sought after I am expecting hyper growth as well as adoption across the board. The potential of 3D Printing/ prototyping/ short-run end-use parts are expanding with the trend towards concurrent engineering and widespread use of CAD.
Which technology and solutions do you provide for automotive manufacturing?
We, Shree Rapid Technologies (SRT) are a unique company and one of the few in the world offering complete solutions for digital manufacturing workflows from Reverse Engineering, Design, Advance Manufacturing, Inspection to Post-Processing all under one roof with the goal of driving adoption across industries. 3D printing has ushered a new generation in rapid automotive prototyping, altering the entire design and production process in the automotive industry, SRT being the Strategic Sales Partner of industry leaders in Additive Manufacturing, we are pushing the boundaries of digital manufacturing delivering support in 3D Scanning, Design, 3D printing, Inspection (CT & X-Ray Scanning) to Post-Processing services zeroing in on the Automotive manufacturing industry.
How do you see the demand for engineered products in India amid pandemic?
As the saying goes, ‘Desperate times call for desperate measures’; likewise, COVID-19 has opened up endless possibilities of Digital Manufacturing led by Additive Manufacturing to become a prominent part of industrial engineering and manufacturing workflows. The current pandemic has accelerated the demand for shorter development cycles and the shift in the R&D, manufacturing as well as go-to market process across industries.
What are your offerings for additive manufacturing?
The vision of Shree Rapid Technologies is driving adoption of digital manufacturing workflows across industries. With this as our strategic objective, we offer 3D printing equipment from global leaders including 3D Systems, Markforged, 3D Ceram, Titomic, Fronius and Zortrax. With the global shift to industry 4.0; newer ways to design / manufacture and inspect are evolving, which has led us to extend our offerings to digital manufacturing, design and inspection. We also offer 3D scanning technologies for reverse engineering and inspection from Zeiss as well as GOM (a Zeiss company). To offer a complete package we also represent brands such as DyeMansion and Materialise for design to cad to post-processing technologies making us the only provider of Digital Manufacturing Workflows in India. As a leader in digital manufacturing solutions, one of our core values has been to demonstrate and deliver, this is complemented by our Customer Innovation Centre (CIC) which hosts over 9+ technologies across various technologies and materials to demonstrate all of this under one roof and walk the talk.
What are your latest offerings in 3D printing for industrial purposes?
There has been a significant shift in the manufacturing industry from traditional to smart manufacturing, compared to 2014 more startups have become keen on making use of the advanced technologies for newer product developments & end-use product manufacturing. Keeping in mind the shift of manufacturing industry, from resin/polymer systems to wax to metal including large frame metal printing using robotic integration to technical ceramics, we are offering industry leading solutions all under one-fold with a dedicated application focused consultation as well as implementation.
